Compliance & regulatory framework
Last updated : 2026-06-05
Voltarione is a digital marketplace connecting renewable electricity producers with buyers (data centers, companies). This page sets out the applicable legal framework and our compliance commitments.
Our status: technical intermediary, not supplier
Voltarione does not buy, resell or deliver electricity. We are neither an electricity supplier, nor a balance responsible party, nor an aggregator within the meaning of articles L.333-1 et seq. of the French Energy Code. Bilateral contracts (PPA, vPPA) are signed directly between the producer and the end buyer; Voltarione earns a 2% matchmaking commission on facilitated transactions.
Applicable European framework
- Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (RED II) and (EU) 2023/2413 (RED III) — promotion of renewable energy and recognition of PPAs.
- Regulation (EU) 2019/943 on the internal electricity market.
- French Energy Code — articles L.314-1 et seq. on renewable electricity purchase contracts.
- Guarantees of Origin (GoO) — EECS system operated in France by EEX, in line with article 19 of RED II.
Data protection (GDPR)
Personal data processing complies with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act. Details in our privacy policy. Hosting within the EU (Ireland), no transfer to a third country without standard contractual clauses.
Anti-money laundering & sanctions
Voltarione applies a KYC/KYB procedure before any contract is signed: identity check of the legal representative, registration number, IBAN, regulatory documentation. Counterparties are screened against European sanctions lists (EU, UN, OFAC).
Information duty and no investment advice
Information shown (market prices, indicative surpluses, projections) is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice within the meaning of MiFID II nor a transaction recommendation. Each user remains solely responsible for their contractual decisions and for verifying prices, volumes and guarantees before signing.
Tax & VAT
Voltarione's commission is invoiced ex-VAT, with French VAT (20%) unless intra-EU B2B reverse charge applies with a valid VAT number. Energy transactions between producer and buyer fall under each jurisdiction's tax regime and remain entirely the responsibility of the counterparties.
Mediation & disputes
In case of a dispute, first contact contact@voltarione.com. Failing resolution, the European online dispute resolution platform (ODR) is available at: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. French law applies, competent jurisdiction: Paris courts.
