PPA guide
Corporate PPA: the 2026 guide for European companies
A Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a direct electricity purchase contract between a consumer (data center, industrial, retailer) and a renewable producer, typically over 5 to 15 years, at a fixed or indexed price.
The 3 main structures
- Physical PPA — physical delivery through the grid, with guarantees of origin. Ideal for a single site close to the producer.
- Sleeved PPA — a utility acts as intermediary and handles balancing. Covers multiple consumption sites.
- Virtual PPA (vPPA) — financial swap contract, no physical flow. Ideal for multi-country companies.
