Microsoft: the 24/7 CFE pioneer

Target: 100% hourly CFE by 2030. Signed volume end of 2025: 19.8 GW cumulative. Strategy: local Physical PPA + long-term nuclear (Constellation Three Mile Island reactivated for 835 MW).

Google: the vPPA machine

Target: Net Zero 2030 + 24/7 CFE across all data centers. 14.2 GW signed. Favours vPPA for flexibility, complemented by 2 GW of next-gen geothermal (Fervo).

Amazon (AWS): volume above all

World's largest corporate buyer with 33.6 GW signed cumulative. Solar + wind mix, mostly vPPA. Target: 100% renewable by 2025 (achieved), 24/7 CFE by 2030.

Meta: US focus, EU expansion

11 GW signed, mostly Texas and Spain. Aggressive on solar >500 MW unit size. 2026 announcement: 5 GW of European PPAs to sign by 2028.

What this means for Europe

  • 5–8 GW of net hyperscaler demand added each year in Europe.
  • Surplus zones (Andalusia, Schleswig-Holstein, Scotland) become strategic.
  • European producers >100 MW are over-solicited; 10–50 MW producers remain largely unlisted — that is precisely the Voltarione niche.
